City Council Homelessness and Housing Committee Hearing
What is this project about?
The Affordable Housing Opportunities Project proposes land use map changes for 19 sites dispersed across the city that are owned by nonprofit housing providers or public agencies. The proposed land use map changes include amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Map and Zoning Map to expand opportunities for affordable housing development and community services, or in some cases, support preservation and upgrades to existing affordable housing or services.
This project is an important component of Portland’s Housing Production Strategy and is listed as a key action item to promote affordable housing.
This project focuses on properties owned by nonprofit housing providers and public agencies to create and preserve more options for affordable housing. These organizations play a critical role in delivering and preserving affordable housing, and AHOP aims to remove zoning barriers to help them do more.
How can I review this proposal?
The AHOP Recommended Draft is now available online. If you are unable to access these documents, please contact Hector Rodriguez Ruiz, Project Manager, at ahop@portlandoregon.gov.

Winter Walk+Roll to School Day
Put on your snow or rain boots and walk or roll to school while enjoying winter time in Oregon. Winter Walk+Roll to School Day is a great way to get active in the winter and share information about traveling safely in snow, ice, and the dark. Schools across Oregon will celebrate. Last year 40 schools in Portland participated.
Visit the Oregon Safe Routes to School website to get event planning resources including posters, social media templates, graphics, and flyers.
Share winter safety tips with your community! A few examples are:
Dress in layers to stay dry and help regulate your body's temperature.
Keep your toes warm by wearing winter boots and warm socks - consider bringing some pocket hand and feet warmers along.
Take your time, and enjoy a leisurely pace - going too fast in the snow and rain can cause slips and falls! Try using the penguin shuffle.
Wear hats and mittens to keep your head and hands warm. If it's raining, wear a raincoat or bring an umbrella to stay dry.
Stay hydrated by drinking water before and after your walk to school.

MNA & SOLVE Clean up event on MLK
MNA has partnered with SOLVE to host our 3rd annual MLK trash cleanup event on Monday, January 19 10am-12pm rain or shine.
This day of service opportunity is unique and ambitious as we have chosen a challenging stretch of frontage Road between SW Barbur and 5 Fwy (accross the street from Fred Meyer).
Most volunteers should be prepared to walk through brush and uneven ground. There will be an opportunity to move larger items like tires and small furniture for those able to assist.
Due to the nature of this cleanup, we recommend volunteers to be over 13 years old and request pre-registration for the event.
Felted Acorns for the Whole Family
Channel your inner squirrel and learn to make sweet little felted acorns out of wool with LeBrie Rich of PenFelt Studios. We will be wet felting, so hands will get wet and soapy. With real acorn caps, these acorns can be strung into a garland, or tucked into a pocket for luck.
Best for ages 5+.

Our Team meetings are open to anyone who lives or works in the Multnomah Neighborhood and wishes to learn more about emergency preparedness, Multnomah NET, BEECN, and our activities.
Multnomah NET meetings are held at the SW Community Center at 7:00pm on the third Tuesday of the month. Join us to learn more!
