Shape the Future of Multnomah Safe Rest Village: Join the Community Advisory Committee
The Multnomah Neighborhood Association is seeking dedicated neighbors to serve as representatives on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC). This committee is the vital link between our neighborhood and the Multnomah Safe Rest Village (MSRV), ensuring the success of our Good Neighbor Agreement (GNA).
The Mission
The CAC serves as the primary "customer service" and accountability tool for the neighborhood. As an MNA representative, you will:
Bridge Gaps: Facilitate communication between neighbors (housed and unhoused) and the City.
Solve Problems: Address and resolve complaints regarding MSRV operations.
Ensure Accountability: Hold all signatories—including the City and Urban Alchemy—to the terms of the Good Neighbor Agreement.
The Role & Responsibilities
This is a high-impact volunteer position that requires a commitment of approximately 10 hours per month.
Key Duties:
Monthly Meetings: Attend the CAC meeting (2nd Tuesday at 3:30 PM) and a preparatory MNA-CAC team meeting.
Reporting: Rotate attendance at MNA Board meetings to provide updates and submit written minutes.
Community Outreach: Proactively respond to neighbor inquiries with courtesy and decorum.
Collaboration: Work alongside organizations like Friends of MSRV, SOLVE, and Adopt-One-Block to address the housing crisis constructively.
Eligibility:
Must be a member of the MNA (Join here).
Must support the existing GNA framework.
Positions are open to neighbors living both near the MSRV (within 2 blocks) and further away.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking constructive, community-minded individuals who focus on the "big picture." Successful candidates will prioritize the overall health of the neighborhood over individual or single-street concerns.
In your Letter of Interest, please address the following:
Why do you wish to serve as an MNA representative to the CAC?
What skills or experience would you bring as a constructive contributor to the success of the GNA?
What issues are you most interested in working on?
How close do you live to the MSRV?
The MSRV has been sited at the former Sears Armory for more than four years; what is your knowledge, experience and/or understanding of the GNA and the current activities in and around the MSRV?
